Mō te tūranga | About the role
As Lead Advisor Initial Teacher Education (ITE), you will play a key role in shaping the future of teacher education in Aotearoa. This role leads the development and implementation of strategic ITE initiatives, providing expert analysis, project leadership, and system-level advice.
You’ll work closely with ITE providers and the wider profession to champion evidence-informed practice, build strong relationships, and support continuous improvement across ITE programmes.

You’re a strategic thinker and relationship-builder with a deep understanding of the education sector. You will bring strong leadership experience, a collaborative mindset, and a culturally responsive approach to your mahi.
At times, you will be required to travel within Aotearoa may be required to attend hui and meet with stakeholders. A full, clean New Zealand driver licence is required.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Relevant Teaching Qualification
- A clean, current full NZ driver’s licence
- Strong competency of Tikanga, Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Reo Māori
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience of Pasifika values and cultures is highly regarded. Fluency in a Pasifika language would be considered an advantage
- Senior leadership experience in education
- Deep knowledge of evaluation, inquiry processes, and effective pedagogical practices across at least one educational context (ITE, ECE, primary or secondary)
